Reenchanting the world in a pagan way is the happy challenge that Fabien Sevilla takes up in his new creation entitled Rites. The double bassist proposes an immersion in a sound space where music unfolds at the confluence of musical traditions and at the crossroads of artistic currents, weaving links between ancestral practices and contemporaneity. Thus, the metamorphoses of sound, visual and gestural matter are part of perpetual cycles, ranging from serenity to anxious questioning, from tension to appeasement, and evoking rites of passage that deeply probe our being and its relationship to the world.

Jazz double bass player, Fabien Sevilla opens the doors of live performance in 2010. His first solo projects gave him the desire to combine his art with contemporary dance and to collaborate with the dancer Jasmine Morand with whom he created HEMIS, a piece for a dancer and a double bass player (2010), but also with Octavio de la Roza, a former member of the Ballet Béjart with whom he created Instants volés (2014), or with the dancer Elina Müller Meyer with whom he created the duo Man'yô-Shû (2014). At the same time, he developed his taste for theater, notably alongside Thierry Romanens and the jazz trio Format A'3, with whom he created the shows Voisard, vous avez dit Voisard? (2011), Courir (2016) and Et j'ai crié Aline (2020).

Rites is his third solo project after Kôans (2010) and Expansion (2013).

Before the concert, Fabien Sevilla offers a 20-minute mini Qi Gong session for those who wish to get into an optimal vibration.
