Born in 2015 within the grounds of Royaumont Abbey and a prizewinner of the foundation bearing the same name, Ensemble Cosmos is a musical group of varying sizes with a basso continuo at its heart.
The ensemble’s approach is based on a search for a repertoire that goes hand in hand with a reflection on vocality. How to develop the soloist’s voice within the polyphony? To test this question, Ensemble Cosmos has chosen the polyphonic vocal repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries. The questioning is pursued through experimentation with the form of the concert itself, by means of spatial settings that plunge the audience into the heart of the sound sphere.
Ensemble Cosmos has performed at the Royaumont Abbey Festival, the Musée d'Orsay auditorium, the Radio-France Occitanie Montpellier Festival, the Collège des Bernardins, the Saint-Pierre de Montmartre church, the Cité de la Voix in Vézelay and the Romainmôtier Festival.
