The Miser

"It's an innovative, wacky, playful Avare that destroys all temporality that the formidable quartet of the Vol Plané company present at the Théâtre du Gymnase. Without ever distorting Molière's work, and thanks to the company's constant artistic inventiveness, the production dazzles and delights audiences aged 7 to 77, taking us straight to the heart of money, its taboos and the problems it engenders. (...) The contemporary nature of the work is underlined by the emphasis on the monetary aspect of the affair. The finale, in which counterfeit $10,000 notes stamped "Bank of Hell" fall from the sky during the applause, illustrates the point. Money destroys everything, including the theatre, an art form where all you have to do is refocus on what's essential: the stage and the actors. Leaving artifice aside".
