Sufi dance is a form of prayer and devotion, a dance that leads to inner wisdom. With their right arm raised and their left arm lowered, dancers experience the connection between heaven and earth and learn to surrender to a higher power in a spiral movement that invites them to leave their personal selves behind and enter the dance of the greater whole.

Born Kurdish in Turkey, Sevil Kara has been immersed in the folk dances of Turkey and Kurdistan since childhood. In 2015, she initiated herself into Sufi dance, the dance of the whirling dervishes which first revealed itself to her through its ancestral heritage. She then participated in workshops guided by different professionals. Today, she shares her experience by leading workshops and giving performances.
